Frequently Asked Questions
Here are answers to the questions most frequently asked by prospective Volunteers:
How long does the application process take?
Once you submit your application, it will be reviewed, taking into account your experience, skills, and availability along with our current program needs. If your volunteer application matches our current needs, you will be contacted to set-up an interview. If there is no immediate match, we will keep your application on file. If we do not contact you within 6 months of receiving your application, you are welcome to reapply.
Please note that we receive a substantial number of applications. Regretfully, we will not be able to guarantee a placement for everyone and will contact successful candidates only.
How would you decide to place me?
During your interview we will discuss the area(s) of interest you’ve identified on your application. You will be assigned to the area that is best suited to you based on your interests and availability.
How many days per week will I be required to volunteer?
Volunteers commit to one 3-4 hour shift once a week (on the same day, at the same time each week), for a minimum of one year.
Can I volunteer more than once a week?
Certainly. However, we suggest that you start with one shift, until you become familiar with the hospital and your duties, before requesting an additional shift.
