A hospital can be a confusing and distressing place for patients and their families. To help patients, families and hospital staff with inquiries, compliments or concerns, we have added the service of a Patient Representative. This staff member has a primary responsibility to you, and an obligation to let you know of your rights and responsibilities, and assist on your behalf.
Our Patient Representative works as a link between patients, families and hospital staff. They can direct you to the person(s) in charge of your care or the care of your family member or friend. They will ensure that patient and family needs are heard and given full consideration, will explain hospital regulations and procedures, and provide patients and families with feedback on follow-up, actions taken and results. This service is a valuable way to help the organization improve in ways that are important to patients and their families.
The Patient Representative can be contacted at 416-242-1000 x82256.
There is a retail Rexall Pharma Plus located on level 1 in main street.
Telephones are available in patient rooms by using the Integrated Bedside Terminal.
Pay phones are also located on some floors and in the lobbies.
Outside long distance calls can be dialed directly into patient rooms. Patients must provide family and friends with the main hospital number and the extension number that appears on the Integrated Bedside Terminal.
Patients can access television and movie options through their Integrated Bedside Terminal. Television and movies can be screencast to the large monitor in the room (in all single patient rooms) for easier shared viewing. Please note there is a fee to use these services.
Humber River Hospital is one of only two hospitals in Toronto to provide specialized equipment for patients who are hearing impaired and deafened. Our Switchboard is equipped to receive TTY calls from outside the hospital. Devices available inside the hospital include bedside TTY phones with built-in flashers, and portable "pocket-talkers" for times when patients cannot use hearing aids (such as in operating rooms.)
Public and handicapped washrooms are available each floor of our hospital.
