Step-By-Step Guide to Starting Your Career at Humber

The Humber River Hospital employment process consists of (5) five easy steps! Start your search by visiting the Employment Opportunities section on the Work at HRH career site. Select different search criteria to find a position that matches your professional background (e.g. keyword, job category).

STEP 1: APPLY ONLINE

Apply online if you meet the minimum requirements of the job posting as the online recruitment system will automatically reject applications that do not meet the minimum qualifications.

To support our Lean, Green and Digital strategy, only online applications received through our recruitment system will be considered.

STEP 2: RESUME REVIEW

Your application will be screened by one of our Recruitment Specialist and the Hiring Selection Committee. They will be assessing your qualifications, abilities, skills, knowledge and experience.

The duration of this step will depend on the number of applications received, the job posting close date and any related resume review activities. This may take 2 - 4 weeks.

STEP 3: INTERVIEW

The most qualified candidates will be invited to participate in our interview process which may consist of a telephone screen, an in person assessment, followed by a peer panel interview.

We conduct behavioural and situational based interviews, assessing your job related competencies, skills, experience and values. A clinical assessment and simulation may also be part of the interview process.

STEP 4: BACKGROUND CHECK

If you are the successful candidate, congratulations! Your Recruitment Specialist will contact you to make a verbal offer, conditional on completion of the mandatory occupational health requirements and the pre-employment screening.

This may include:

  • Criminal Check
  • Education Verification
  • Employment Verification
  • Reference Check

STEP 5: OFFER & ONBOARD

When you clear the background checks, you will receive an offer outlining the terms and conditions of your employment.

You will also receive information on your New Hire Orientation welcome session, benefits enrollment, payroll set-up and everything you need to help you prepare for your new role.
