Maternal and Child Program
Humber River Hospital is proud to offer mothers and their babies, and families a truly patient and family-centred experience with an award-winning, multi-disciplinary team of dedicated care providers.
As a designated Level 2 Centre, we provide high quality, safe care in all areas of the program. We deliver over three thousand babies each year, and are a regional leader in women’s and children’s health care. We are pleased to adjust plans of care to accommodate the cultural diversity of our patients, our community and beyond.
In all areas of the Program, patients and families are encouraged to be partners in their care. In Paediatrics, parents are encouraged to be involved in the preparation of their children for surgery. Our Hug and Hold Program, the first of its kind in Ontario, allows a parent to go into the operation room to hold their child until the anaesthetic is given and the child is asleep. This is representative of our patient and family-centred approach to delivering quality and safe care.
As a designated Regional Paediatric Centre, Humber River is proud to be a leader in paediatric care. In 2015, the National Research Corporation of Canada (NRCC) named Humber River Hospital as a Top Performing Hospital for Overall Paediatric Inpatient Care based on performance ratings from patient perceptions. This recognition is a testament to the entire Paediatric team and their tremendous dedication and leadership.
Our Maternal and Child Program is grateful for the support we receive from many community sponsors and organizations, including Ronald McDonald House Charities and the Starlight Foundation. These partnerships enable us to deliver on-going quality care for the whole family.
All Maternal and Child services are located on the 4th Floor of Humber River Hospital.
