Orthopaedic Surgery


Orthopaedic surgeons provide elective, non- elective, and trauma surgery involving the musculoskeletal system: the bones in the body including hips, knees, ankles, and shoulders.


Referral by physician is required. Non-elective or trauma procedures are referred through the Emergency Department.

The inpatient unit is located on the 11th Floor – use the central elevators.

Fracture Clinic


The Fracture Clinic provides exemplary patient care, playing an important role in the management and treatment of orthopaedic issues. All orthopaedic post-operative follow-up visits are conducted at this clinic. We also receive patients from our Emergency Department (ED) at HRH with acute fractures and/or ligamentous injuries for further clinical review.


We are a team of vibrant multidisciplinary staff who work together to provide timely and patient centered care: Occupational therapists; hand clinic, custom splint fabrication, physiotherapy, CCAC coordinators, nursing, orthopedic technologists and social workers.


Humber River was among the first group of hospitals participate in the Fracture Clinic Screening Program. This program is managed by Ontario Osteoporosis Strategy and the Ontario Orthopaedic Association on behalf of the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care. Under this program, Osteoporosis Screening Coordinators (OSC) screen for low-trauma fracture patients, and connect these patients with primary health care and community-based services as needed. The goal is to reduce complications due to osteoporosis such as fractures, mortality and costs from osteoporosis through an integrated and comprehensive approach aimed at health promotion and disease management.

Located on the 1st floor at Portal D in the Portals of Care on the south side of the building. The West Parkade is the closest parking lot.
