We provide patients with the support they need while living with cancer, from consultation and diagnosis to treatment and supportive care including palliative care.

Our cancer program features a 30-bed inpatient unit. Our radiation isolation room treats patients with thyroid cancer. We also offer follow-up care and symptom management.

Our cancer and oncology clinic has 28 treatment spaces to provide specialized cancer care. This includes chemotherapy and oral therapies. We also offer follow-up care and symptom management.

Humber River Hospital partners with tertiary cancer and academic centres in the Greater Toronto Area to provide care. We also take part in clinical trials.

We partner with community support organizations to help patients at every step in their care journey.

Our cancer care team is actively involved in initiatives to improve our patient experience. We work to enhance the quality of care within our hospital, within our region and across Ontario.

Some of our highlights include:

Active participation in the Central LHIN Regional Cancer Program, including the RSTP, Cancer Care Ontario‘s ONPC, ReQSN, and in the regional and provincial strategy for palliative care.

Consistently achieving provincial annual improvement targets. We are a top performer in aspects of patient care related to consultation and treatment wait times.

An active PFAC with advisors who have participated in local, regional and provincial committees. Our advisors make recommendations and collaborate with our cancer care team. Working together, we help advance a person-centred approach to the delivery of care. One of our patient advisors was the recipient of the 2018 CCO Volunteer Human Touch award!
