What is Health811?

 Health Connect Ontario, replaced Telehealth Ontario, in 2022. Health811 provides Ontarians with free, secure, and confidential health advice from a registered nurse. Access it 24 hours a day, 7 days a week by phone, or on the Ontario.ca/health811 website.

When should I use Health811?

If you have a general health question and are not sure what to do, Health811 can connect you to a Health Care Navigator who can give you confidential advice about concerns, such as:

  • Symptoms that could require medical attention
  • Information on Illness or injury
  • Nutrition and healthy lifestyles
  • Teen health and lifestyle issues
  • Mental health concerns
  • Breastfeeding support
  • Refugee health support
  • Medical assistance in dying support.

If you are experiencing symptoms or your question is best responded to by a nurse, the Health Care Navigator will transfer you to the registered nurse.

Health811 does not replace your family doctor.

In a medical emergency, call 9-1-1 immediately.

How does I access Health811?

Visit Ontario.ca/Health811, select the “Chat with Us” link, to chat with the Health Care Navigator and / or registered nurse online. At any time during the chat, you can enter your phone number for a call back.

This service is available in over 200 languages, including indigenous languages such as Cree, Ojibwe, and Inuktitut.
